Qwest Center - Omaha, NEWhen the city of Omaha decided to build the Midwest’s premier meeting and entertainment venue, they turned to GSI to provide geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing as the owner’s representative.
The Qwest Center site covers 100 city blocks and spans 422 acres in the heart of Omaha’s downtown hub. The center encompasses 32,700 sq. ft. of meeting space, 194,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space, a 450 room anchor hotel and skywalk plus a 17,000 seat arena and parking lots and parking high rise facilities to meet the demand of local and national events held at the center.
This design/build project demanded tight schedules and a relentless effort to keep communications lines open and active. GSI met the challenge using full-time field technicians and engineers to coordinate activities with several contractors, the Union Pacific Railroad, civil design engineers and the facility architect.
